At the beginning of June, I headed to Decorah for Elliott and Hope's engagement session. The evening light was lovely and the weather was perfect for their session. We began at Phelp's Park, which has a beautiful path along the bluff, overlooking the river. The stonework and wooden pergola-style roof made for a beautiful setting for this gorgeous couple.
After some time at Phelp's, we headed out to Seed Savers Exchange, just north of Decorah. I cannot even express how much fun I had at Seed Savers. It was the perfect setting for these two love birds. Hope's lace dress and Elliott's shirt fit perfectly with the location. Everything was gorgeous.
It was fun getting to know Hope and Elliott better and hearing about how they met, several years before while Hope was working at a motorcycle shop. They met in passing, not really talking or thinking much of it. Later Elliott found her on Facebook, started a conversation, and their love story began to unfold. Beautiful.
After the gardens by the Seed Savers Exchange, we headed a short way down the road to the orchard at Seed Savers. Last fall, I had the pleasure of photographing a first look in the orchard. Unfortunately, due to time constraints we were unable to do many portraits around the orchard at that time, so I was so excited to have the opportunity to photograph there again.
The golden evening light, softly illuminated the orchard giving gorgeous warm light. Elliott and Hope simply glowed as they snuggled together in the orchard. Seriously, it doesn't get any better than photographing a beautiful love story.
Before the session ended, we headed to downtown Decorah. I have spent a lot of time in the Decorah area, having lived there for four years throughout college. However, I had not really explored the alleys behind the business district. I'm so glad I got the chance to. They're lovely!
We ended the session with a few shots in the crosswalk, just for fun. I think they turned out great!
It was such a pleasure working with Elliott and Hope. I am so looking forward to their wedding this fall!
