On a gray August morning, the fates aligned and I received a phone call from Nick's mom. She was at the location for Nick's senior portraits and their original photographer was a no-show. As luck would have it, I had the day slated for editing and was able to fit them in my schedule right away. So I packed up my camera gear quick and headed to meet them at the Iowa River Power Restaurant to begin his session.
The overcast skies created nice, even lighting for the session. I love the weathered wood and rust tones in the bridge set against the waters and green trees. It made for a perfect backdrop for Nick's session. Nick was wearing his West High "Trojan Strength" shirt which complimented him wonderfully. He is excited to begin is second and final football season at West High.
During his session, we were talking and it turns out that his dad's parents owned the restaurant here in Wellman many years ago and his dad grew up in Northeast Iowa, not far from where I graduated high school. Small world!
Before leaving the Iowa River Power area, we stopped by their classic brick wall for a few last portraits. Just as we were finishing, the skies, which had been growing ominous, began to open up. Thankfully, we were out of the rain pretty quickly and on our way to the next location.
After the IRP, we headed back to the studio for some more formal shots. I love the blue backdrop for him! It really shows off his red hair.
It was such a pleasure working with Nick and capturing his senior portraits! I wish him all the best as he goes into his senior year!!
