We could not have asked for a more perfect afternoon for Ryan and Elyse's engagement session! After a day of gloomy, overcast skies, the clouds broke and the sunlight was lovely for this beautiful couple! We began their session at the beach at Lake MacBride. Lake MacBride is a special location for Ryan and Elyse. They spend a lot of time there fishing for walleye during the summer. In fact, it was on their fishing boat while out on Lake MacBride that Ryan proposed! Elyse is in her fourth of a five year program, studying to be and ENT doctor. As a fun coincidence, she'll be interviewing in January for a position in my home state of North Carolina! Ryan is an airplane engineer, working on designing clear cockpits. He also is a private pilot. He and Elyse enjoy flying in the small experimental plane he recently purchased. I love their outfits! The colors really pop against the wooded path and the grasses!! After the beach area, we headed up to the spillway. The light was perfect! Love the image above of them snuggling on the bench swing!! The spillway was filled with beautifully cascading water. I love how it reflects the blue in the sky and ties in so well with their outfits!! As Elyse and Ryan spend much of their free time here fishing, we had to get a few portraits of them in their Carhartts with their rods. Honestly, these are some of my favorites from their session! I love when couples really personalize their portrait session!! They had the most gorgeous sunset at the end of their session! As we were walking back along the spillway, we had to stop and take advantage of the moment!! Thanks, Ryan and Elyse, for braving the December chill for your session! I had so much fun getting to know you both, and I am so excited to capture your wedding next year!!
