Both Steven and Stephanie are teachers. Stephanie is a great lover of history and you definitely tell this as she spoke about the details of her wedding day. There was nothing that was without meaning or history. The gladioli in her bouquet were in honor of her grandmother and mother's wedding bouquets. The small paper ring she wore, twisted from a straw wrapper, was given to her by Steven on their first date, years ago. It was fun to listen to the stories she shared about the history and significance of the details of her wedding. So beautiful!
Following the ceremony, we began formal portraits. It was a hot day and the bugs were out in mass, but thankfully everyone did a great job braving the elements with a smile.
I had so much fun with their bridal party! There was a lot of laughter and silliness during the portraits. Love it!
Can we just take a minute to appreciate the guys' socks? Seriously, they are amazing!
When we finished with the bridal party, we sent them off to the comfort of the lodge to cool down while we began working with Steven and Stephanie. I love having some time alone with the bride and groom on the wedding day. Not only does it allow me to pose them and capture their portraits in a more relaxed setting without an audience, it gives them time to talk and interact and take a break from the hustle of the day. My favorite portraits are of couples interacting and just being themselves.
The reception began with the grand entrance of the bridal party. They definitely had some great moves as they made their way into the hall. Then it was off to cut the cake. I love Steven and Stephanie's "Beauty and the Beast" themed cake topper. It is one of Stephanie's favorite movies.
Later in the day, we stepped outside for a few more portraits in the late afternoon light. I love, love, love the silhouette shot with the bold blue summer sky below. Gorgeous!
The dancing began when we returned to the lodge, followed by the bouquet and garter toss. The DJ had Steven do a dance for Stephanie before she should let him try to remove the garter. I have to say, he had quite the performance. You can see how much fun Stephanie was having in the photo below. A lot of laughs were had!
Before we left for the night, we stepped out for a few more portraits. The sunset was perfect! The purple fading to orange mirrored their wedding colors and made for a gorgeous backdrop. Lovely!
Congratulations again to Steven and Stephanie! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of and capture your gorgeous day. Also a big thank you to Michael Weber for assisting me in capturing this beautiful event!
