Hello! Well, believe it or not a new year has begun and we're already a month into it. I don't know about you, but I can't wait to see what 2017 has in store. Since it's the beginning of a new year, I thought I'd take a minute to introduce myself for the readers who are just joining in.
I'm Carrie Geno, owner and lead photographer of Geno Photography. I love photography with all my heart and soul. I feel photos are more than just images, they are treasures. Our lives are filled with important moments, both big and small. Photographs, whether portraits or candids, create a tangible and lasting memory that help us relive those beautiful moments.
As for me, I'm a hopeless romantic. I love love. I think that's one of my favorite aspects of photographing weddings. I love the moments spent with couples on their wedding day; moments when they are just themselves: interacting, snuggling, laughing, holding each other close and radiating joy. I mean, seriously, how could you not adore that?! Those are my absolute favorite moments to capture at weddings. The same with families, the little moments and interactions of parents with their children and siblings. There is something beyond what words can describe in those moments.
I am married to my high school sweetheart. Almost 14 years now and we're still going strong. He has a great eye and I occasionally get him talked into assisting me at weddings, when he's not drilling for the Army Reserves or working. We have two intelligent, creative, sassy, spunky little girls who are growing up way too fast. It is crazy just how quickly they grow. They keep us both on our toes and life just wouldn't be complete without them. Love them to bits!
I love to travel; seeing new places and exploring makes my heart happy. I have spent much of my youth moving from state to state with my family. Originally, I'm from North Carolina and it is still somewhere I hold dear in my heart. When we travel back through the Blue Ridge Mountains, my heart has a sense of home. I have since lived in Ohio, Northern Minnesota, West Virginia, a few locations in North Carolina, and now live in Iowa with my husband and two amazing daughters. I have greatly enjoyed traveling with the US, visiting 30 states so far, and world travel to: Hong Kong, Shanghai, Perth, and Tokyo. I cannot wait for March, when I'll be adding Reykjavik and Paris to my list!! I will gladly travel for weddings, whether in the US or beyond. This past summer's trip to Aptos, California to photograph a beautiful wedding definitely fueled my passion for destination weddings!
I'm also a bit of a nerd. I love The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, "Dr. Who," The Dresden Files, "Star Trek," "Star Wars," and the list goes on. I'm also a bit sarcastic, which may be an understatement... My children are fluent in two languages, English and sarcasm. For weddings and sessions, I like to keep things light and joke around. Not only is it who I am, it also helps my clients feel more comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera and brings out some genuine smiles.
So yeah, that's me. If you want to get to know me better, ask a question, or just say, "Hi!" feel free to comment below or head over to my Contact page and drop a line.
