Lizzie {Senior}
On a chilly January afternoon, I met with Lizzie in downtown Iowa City for her senior session. The weather had decided to sprinkle as temperatures hovered in the upper 30s. We began our session inside the lounge area of the Hotel Vetro. I adore all of the natural light in their lobby!
During her session, it was great getting to know Lizzie better. She hopes to become an epidemiologist, studying diseases and outbreaks. Such a fascinating subject!
The walkway that spans the distance between the parking garage and the Hotel Vetro building is walled with this simple corrugated metal. I love the lines it creates and was glad to use it as a sheltered backdrop for this beautiful girl. Love it!
As we wandered around the Ped Mall area of downtown, the sprinkling rain turned into tiny snowflakes. Lizzie had hoped for snow during her session, while it wasn't a big flurry it did make for some added fun in her portraits.
I know it sounds weird, and probably seems weird to my clients during the session, but I love Iowa City's alleys. Odd, right? There are just so many cool locations in them from bold doorways to gorgeous brick walls to fun staircases. If you can look beyond the big picture, which is often dirty and sometimes smells weird (such are alleys), there are some amazing opportunities for portraits. Lizzie was a trooper and put up with all my crazy ideas, all while braving the chilly afternoon.
