It was a beautiful sunny afternoon for Natalie and Matan. The ceremony began as Matan escorted Natalie's grandfather and his grand mother to their seats.
I love the smiles and radiating joy! The love their family has for them and their relationship is truly beautiful.
This moment with Matan's mother is simply wonderful! She was so happy to be celebrating their wedding day. As I said before, the love that surrounds this beautiful couple is absolutely beautiful.
As their bridal party joined them at the front for the ceremony, they each embraced Matan. Seriously, can you feel the love?! So joyful!!
Their ceremony was stunning. Consecrated under a beautiful white chuppah. Their officiant shared their the story of their journey to this moment. They first met in 7th grade at Northwest Junior High. They were friends for years before ever dating. There wasn't a particular moment in 7th grade that either of them remembers that was significant to their relationship, except for Natalie remembering that he was cute. Then Matan moved out of town for his 8th grade year, before moving back to Iowa City to start freshman year of high school.
Their first date was during their sophomore year of high school. Matan was back from Chicago for winter break, and he asked Natalie to go to a movie at the mall. They saw "I Am Legend". It was a cute little high school date with hand holding until Natalie had to cover up her crying when the dog in the movie died. After the movie since neither could drive, Natalie's mother picked them up and took them to a friend's house where a group of our friends were hanging out. Nothing more came dating at that time, but they continued to be friends.
Fast forward to the summer of 2013, going into their senior year of college, was when they started to hang out a lot more and their friendship developed into being more than friends. One night that stands out to them both was when they went to the local park and played 1-on-1 basketball in the moonlight. They both had started to figure out there were feelings between them that night on the court.
What a fun love story!
At the end of the ceremony, Matan broke the traditional glass and they celebrated their marriage with a kiss. So beautiful!
Since they chose not to see each other before the ceremony, we began portraits following the ceremony. What a fun group!!
The dessert table in the reception was amazing! It was filled with a wide variety of dainty sweets. It looked delicious!!
Matan is a big hockey player, so it was only fitting that the bridal party made their entrance into the reception by passing a puck then creating a tunnel of hockey sticks for Matan and Natalie to walk under. Such a fantastic personal touch!
The maid of honor and best man speeches were beautiful and heartfelt. Then, the "worst man" gave his. Apparently, as an inside joke, one of the groomsmen assumed the role of "worst man." His speech was hilarious, full of good fun and humor!
A few minutes at sunset, we popped out from the dancing for a few portraits in the evening light. So lovely!
Congrats to the newlyweds! Thank you so much for allowing us to capture the love and joy of your wedding day! It was an absolute joy working with you, Matan and Natalie!!
