101018-02 Well, in true fall fashion, the weather decided to throw us a curveball for the Northup family's portrait session.  After days of lovely weather, the sky turned cloudy, the temperature cooled off, and the winds started blowing. The Northup family was amazing as always and braved the weather like champs. 101018-04 I  love the gorgeous weathered wood on the side of the barn at their home in rural Iowa. Not only is it a perfectly person setting for their family, it creates a beautiful neutral  background for their portraits allowing them to really pop. 101018-07 101018-09 101018-11 101018-13 How cute are these kiddos?! 101018-17 I always encourage moms and dads to take a quick moment and get portraits of just them. Many have not had portraits together since their wedding day. I think it is so important to take a moment to celebrate the pillars on which the family stands, the love that created their beautiful family. 101018-18 It took a little wrangling, but we also managed to get their beautiful pup in a few photos as well.
