One essential to help you have an amazing wedding experience is communication. You spend a lot of time planning and prepping for your big day. Here are a few communication tips to helping your day run smoothly.
1. Talk with your vendors. Make sure the florist knows when formal portraits will be so your flowers arrive on time. Be sure to let your DJs know if you have a "do not play" list. Tell your vendors who will be there on your wedding day, whether just for set-up/drop off or as part of your event, what your wedding day timeline is.
Communication with vendors goes both ways. Be sure to reach out if you have a question or concern before the wedding day arrives. It is best that everyone is on the same page to keep everything running smoothly.
2. Communicate, communicate, communicate with anyone and everyone involved in formal portraits. Make sure they know WHERE to be and WHEN. It's not possible to photograph someone who isn't there. Share a copy of your timeline with everyone involved and ask them to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to their portrait time. Things run so much quicker, easier and are less stressful if everyone is on hand and ready to go. If you are not doing family portraits until after the ceremony, remind everyone who needs to stay after for portraits. Many times someone will head out from the ceremony to the reception and completely forget/miss out on family portraits.
Make sure your bridal party and family know they need to have their flowers for portraits. So often this is overlooked and there is a bit of a frantic scramble to pin boutonnieres, sort out corsages, and locate bouquets. Have an attendant on hand and in charge of sorting out flowers for everyone. It's a lot easier if this attendant is not a bridal party or family member involved in portraits.
