At the end of May, I headed to Palmer House Stables in Solon to capture the wedding of Jake and Chelsey. The forecast was predicting rain all day, but we lucked out with gorgeous weather! It was a perfect day!
Chelsey is a Hawkeyes fan and Jake roots for Michigan. They let their guests choose which team to cheer for with their personalized coozie favors. Too cute!
E's Florals knocked it out of the park with Chelsey and Jake's wedding flowers. Chelsey requested a bouquet in her favorite color, yellow, and E's did not disappoint. So beautiful!!
I love when couples schedule time at the beginning of the day for detail pictures. These pictures are such wonderful ways to remember all the special touches from the wedding day, but they take time to style in a way to showcase them perfectly.
I love all the personalized hangers! The ribbons matched the dresses perfectly.
Jake and Chelsey first met on Tinder. They went on a few dates, but lost touch for the most part, only talking from time to time. About a year after meeting, they began talking more often and made it official. For their first date, " we met at Red’s in North Liberty for a few beers. Jake didn’t have much time to hang out, because he had a slow pitch softball game. We actually lost track of time, and he was really late to his game," Chelsey shared. "We were getting more serious, but weren’t officially dating yet. He took me to spend the day with his family and friends at Oktoberfest in Amana. That was the day we began to fall in love."
Jake even had his own personalized hanger! I love when the groom and groomsmen are included in the little touches. Sometimes that gets overlooked.
The proposal happened on January 6, 2018. " He took me to Oxe Yoke Inn in Amana, which was the place we began to fall in love. We had lunch with a friend of his. We went outside to go to a store in Amana, and he proposed in front of Oxe Yoke. He had invited his friend so he could take pictures of the proposal," Chelsey shared. How beautiful and thoughtful!!
Jake's reaction to their first look was fantastic! He was so happy and in awe of his bride. Beautiful!!
I love first looks! I really do. The quiet moment when couples get to see each other for the first time, away from the chaos of the day, allows them the opportunity to embrace and talk. It is such a wonderful moment!
When asked what they loved most about each other, they shared, " I love his sense of humor and he has a big heart. Jake says that he loves how kind I am to everyone."
Before the ceremony, we took formal portraits outside of the Palmer House. The forecast still called for rain, but the sun was shining and we took full advantage of the beautiful day!
