051420-001 051420-013 It was a rainy spring day.  The radar didn't look great, but Elijah and Rachael embraced the weather and we lucked out!  The rain broke just before we began their engagement session.   051420-018 We started at the Old Capitol in Iowa City.  The spring blossoms were beautiful and matched perfectly with Rachael's gorgeous dress.  051420-021 051420-023 051420-026 Rachael and Elijah met while in school at the University of Iowa.  When Rachael graduated, she took a job in Wisconsin while Elijah stayed in Iowa City to finish medical school.  Which, by the way, Elijah graduated the day after our session.  Congrats, Elijah!! 051420-029 051420-034 For a brief moment, the sun peeked out from behind the clouds.  What beautiful light for this beautiful couple! 051420-037 051420-040 051420-042 051420-044 I had so much fun chatting with them as we wandered downtown Iowa City.  They shared about their cat, Crookshanks, who loves to travel with Rachael between Iowa City and Wisconsin.  How fun is that!  My cat barely tolerates riding to the vet.  Crookshanks sounds like an awesome companion! 051420-053 051420-061 051420-066 Elijah and Rachael will be moving to Missouri, where Elijah has accepted an emergency department position at a hospital there.  What an exciting new adventure for them!  051420-071 051420-072 051420-074 051420-076 051420-088 051420-093 051420-101 After downtown Iowa City, we headed to Thornberry Dog Park in Iowa City.  As we began, the thunder in the distance began to rumble louder and the rain began to softly fall.  Rachael and Elijah were amazing and embraced the rain.  As Rachael said the rain fit perfectly with how their wedding planning has gone.  2020 has sure been throwing curveballs! 051420-108 051420-112 051420-115 051420-119 051420-127 I love, love, love the photos in the rain.  It's real and beautiful.  Plus, anyone else getting "The Notebook" vibes?  Um, yeah, love it so much! 051420-134 051420-148 051420-155 051420-157 051420-160 Thank you so much to Elijah and Rachael for embracing the weather and being so amazing to work with!  It was an absolute joy working with you both!!  I cannot wait for your wedding day in June!
