On a windy afternoon, I headed over to Churdan, Iowa for Alyssa and Cale's engagement session. We began the session at Alyssa's parents house for some portraits with Alyssa's horses. The afternoon light in the pasture was gorgeous and the horses cooperated (when they wanted to, apparently I'm not very interesting in their opinion, lol!).
I love the pops of turquoise in their outfits and Alyssa's boots!
After we finished with the portraits with the horses in the pasture, we headed over to a local park. The park was gorgeous and, thankfully, we were able to find a bit a break from the wind.
It was so much fun getting to know Alyssa and Cale better. They first met in first grade and grew up together. In high school, they hung out together in a group of mutual friends and fell into dating gradually. They have spent the past seven years dating. They enjoy spending time together on the farm, going for walks, biking, riding horses, and playing sand volleyball. Alyssa spends a lot of time riding in the tractor with Cale.
When asked what they love most about each other, Alyssa loves how Cale is nice, genuine, and helpful to everyone he knows. She loves that his is always willing to help a neighbor or friend. Cale loves Alyssa's laugh, her sense of humor, and her willingness to learn and help on the farm. They share so many similar likes that they never run out of things to talk about.
It was clear during their session, that these two not only love each other, but they have a deep friendship. Beautiful!
I love their proposal story! "We were at the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City watching the game on the Jumbotron at the Power and Light District. During half time of the game, Cale proposed and his two friends that came along with us filmed the proposal. It was really fun!! " Alyssa.
Our last stop was at Cale's mother's house. Just a little way down the gravel road, Cale brought down his red tractor. I love it!
I love the portraits in the corn! It was a great setting for these Cale and Alyssa's rural Iowa engagement portraits.
Ok, seriously, can we take a minute to admire just how adorable these little piglets are?! When Alyssa mentioned that they had some piglets to include in their portraits I was pretty excited to get to see them. Cale and his brother care for 12,000 pigs on their family farm, so pigs are a big part of his life.
Sunset on a gravel road, beautiful! I love the silhouette with the corn field in the background and the stunning colors of the Iowa sunset.
I cannot wait to capture Cale and Alyssa's wedding next July!
