Michael and Lisa had chosen to see each other for the first time at the wedding ceremony, so following their "I Do"s we began the formal portrait session. As they were greeting guests, we were able to capture a few cute portraits of their kiddos. I love the candid portraits. So sweet!
Since the August weather was hot and humid, we tried to work as quickly as we could so everyone could go cool off. We started with the little ones and I just adore how they turned out. The portrait of Lisa's daughter sitting on her dress, interacting with Lisa is such a beautiful moment. Love it!
After the family and bridal party portraits were finished, we walked up to the horse pasture where Michael and Lisa's horses were grazing. Their blonde colored horse was so great during portraits, very attentive and calm. Beautiful!!
It was very sunny, but thankfully the trees cast long shadows in the horse pasture and created a gorgeous soft light.
The reception was held across the river, in Quincy, IL, at the Elk's Lodge. Michael and Lisa carried their rustic, country theme throughout their reception. The cake topper was perfect! I also love the "naked" style top tiers of the cake. It added extra texture and a more rustic flare to the cake.
The bridal party entered the reception by doing the limbo. How fun is that?!
After they entered the reception, successfully limbo-ing their way in, Michael and Lisa shared their first dance as husband and wife. You can see the joy on their faces as they danced together.
A very eager bridesmaid was very ready to catch the bouquet when it was tossed. I love it!!
After the cake cutting, we headed behind the Elk's Lodge for a few more portraits with Michael and Lisa. We had an excellent view of the Quincy bridge. It made for a beautiful backdrop.
It was a pleasure working with Michael and Lisa. Congratulations again and best wishes, Michael and Lisa! Thank you for allowing us to capture your beautiful day.
A big thank you to my husband, Josh, for assisting me in capturing this gorgeous day!
