It was a hot afternoon, as I drove out to Lake Keomah State Park for Thomas and Sydney's wedding. I hadn't had the pleasure of visiting the park before, but I'm so glad I had the opportunity to photograph there. It was a gorgeous location for this beautiful couple!
For their first date, Thomas and Sydney met at a public park and went driving around town and around in the country. They got to know one another and enjoyed the landscapes. They still go on long drives in the country, so the park was a perfect setting for their big day.
The lodge where their reception was held was beautifully decorated with lace table runners on the wooden tables, beautiful floral arrangements in steel pots on wooden crosscuts, and oil candles. It was simply stunning! Their dessert table was just as beautiful. I love their cake with it's elegant florals. Lovely!
Their first look was a beautiful moment. Thomas is fairly reserved with his smiles, a pretty quiet guy, but the smile on his face as he turned to see Sydney for the first time was perfect! Such joy!
When asked what they love most about each other they answered, "How easy it is to be with one another. We are both so different but also so similar. Everything about us feels so natural and right. We also complement each other well by evening out different parts of our personalities."
For their wedding, Thomas was most excited to walk back down the isle as husband and wife, and Sydney was most excited to finally kiss Thomas as husband and wife.
It was hot and humid, but thankfully there was shade in the trees just outside of the lodge. Did I mention how lovely Lake Keomah State Park is?
Their day was made extra special by being able to get ready with family and friends, talking with many people they rarely get to see, and having a private moment where they got to see each other for the first time before the wedding.
Their bridal party was a group of those close to their hearts. The bridesmaids were all sisters, two sisters and one sister in law. Thomas’ crew were all long time friends since high school from over a decade ago. They all farm and have worked together.
It was so much fun working with Thomas and Sydney, as well as their friends and family. What a great group! You can tell how much everyone loves and supports the happy couple.
Their proposal story included a little help from their best man, Tim.
"I had just finished working 7, 12 hour night shifts in a row. Thomas woke her up around noon to go grab lunch. But, I was pretty tired so I slept on the ride to lunch He and his friend staged an ‘emergency’ where his friend Tim called him ‘on our way to eat ’ saying his cattle got out of the pasture and he needed help getting back in. So we drove to the field they were supposedly in and parked at the very top of the hill, which is the highest hill in the area. It overlooked several miles of snow covered farmland. Anyways, Tim drove up next to us. We got out and went to hop his truck. I waited for Tim to ‘finish cleaning his truck’, which was just him getting his video recorder ready. Then, Tim said ok you’re good. I turned around and Thomas was on one knee and asked me to marry him." - Sydney
