It was a beautiful day for Jillian and Luis' wedding. The August weather was quite toasty, but the sun was shining and the skies were blue. We began our day at the Marriott, where Jillian and Luis got ready for their big day. I have to say, I think this is one of my very favorite hotels now. All the natural light was gorgeous! Plus, the hotel had a very clean, neutral look in their decor, creating the perfect backdrop.
Jillian's dress was stunning! The lace, the beading, the buttons, everything was gorgeous!
Can we take a moment to appreciate the bling? Seriously!! Those shoes are perfection!
Jillian did all of her own silk floral design for the wedding. Beautiful!
Jillian was surrounded by such an amazing group of woman as she got ready for her big day; her mother, stepmother, Luis' mother, her sister and close friends. I love the laughter and moments they shared as they helped her prepare for her wedding!
Luis and Jillian first met while Jillian was getting her Master's degree at Upper Iowa University, and Luis was taking undergraduate courses. On their first date they went to Pizza Ranch and spent the evening chatting. It was laid-back and unplanned, perfect for them!
They first realized that they were the one for each other was when they realized that they were each other's best friend and wanted to share the littlest details of their day with each other. They knew they couldn't spend the rest of their lives without each other. Jillian commented once she knew he'd be a loyal husband and loving father. Luis was 100% convinced that Jillian was the one when she didn't leave after he finished baseball season. He is a fantastic baseball player, by the way!
Their first look was beautiful and emotion. The love these two have for each other simply radiates from them.
Have I mentioned how much I adore the Marriott in Waterloo? Love, love, love the light. Gorgeous!!
Luis went all out on the proposal! He asked Jillian's dad for her hand in marriage, and invited friends and family to be there for the big question. He lit tea light candles all around the UIU baseball field, had music playing over the loud speakers, and had a conniving plan ready to trick Jillian. Unfortunately, Jillian suspected he'd be asking that night because people were acting weird, and she had accidentally stumbled across the ring a few months prior while cleaning. It was still a huge success, though, as he got down on one knee with 2 dozen roses and a gorgeous ring on the pitcher's mound, surrounded by family and friends. A photographer captured the moment, and fireworks shot off after she said yes. It was truly a fairy tale proposal for the record book!
I'm obsessed with these dresses!! Love the rose and gold tones, different styles, and the bling (without being overdone). So beautiful, just like this group of lovely ladies!
I had so much fun capturing the joy and celebration of Jillian and Luis' wedding day. Be sure to stop back again soon for more from their elegant day!
