Can I just point out how incredibly lucky we were with the weather? This is January in Iowa. JANUARY! We were able to be outside and take advantage of the gorgeous evening light following the wedding ceremony and no one was getting frostbite. Ok, it wasn't exactly "warm," but it was decently above freezing. I'll take it!
Following the ceremony and a few portraits with the bridal party at the church, we headed over to a park area by the Mississippi. It was lovely!
The light fades so fast during the winter. Golden hour is more like a half hour, but we were able to take advantage of the last light of the day and the photos were gorgeous. I love when couples are willing to take the time to make sure we're able to use that fantastic light at the end of the day. Never have I had anyone say they'd wished they hadn't done so, but I have heard many say that they wish they'd taken a few moments out of their reception to do a few more photos at sunset.
How great is this patio area? The bistro lights kicked on just as we were preparing to leave for the reception. I'm so glad they did!
Shelby's sisters gave beautiful, heartfelt toasts. There were some tears. Beautiful! The love these sisters share is so wonderful.
Their first dance was stunning! The reception hall, the Stern Center, was stunning and white. It allowed their up-lighting to really set the mood and create the perfect setting for their reception celebration. Love it!
We ended the evening with the bouquet and garter toss. I love how excited their bridal party and guests were to participate in these events!
Mick and Shelby's wedding day was absolutely stunning! I am so honored that Eric asked me to assist him in capturing this gorgeous day. Best wishes to Mick and Shelby as they begin their wedded life!
